In the early 1960's the Burgiemen Car Club sponsored a series of dances and different venues around Sacramento. These dances featured Johnnie and the Dominions who did incredible renditions of songs Beach Boys, Ray Charles, and others The Burgiemen even brought the Rolling Stones to Sacramento. The first dance was titled "Wipe Out" after the beach Boys song of the same name.
After that, all dances were named with the second word being "out". At the time the club President was Gary Schiro. Gary was the driving force behind these successful ventures. These dances allowed the club to make a ski trip to Sugar Bowl Ski area for a weekend and to Santa Cruz for a weekend, all paid for by the club.
